| My name is Phillip Brummett Jr . I'm 48 years old, and I live in Jamestown KY. My Cherokee Indian name, given to me by a Cherokee Elder, is Walking Water. Some of my ancestors took part in the "The Trail of Tears" or, as a direct translation from Cherokee, "The Trail Where They Cried" ("Nunna daul Tsuny").
I'm also a ham radio operator. My call sign is KF4YRE. I use my 2 meter ham radio during storms to monitor, and report, severe and significant severe weather to the National Weather Service and the various local Emergency Services Organizations. I've been storm spotting for over 30 years now. I mainly spot for my local community but, if there are storms within 50 miles, and nothing going on here, I'll usually head out after them. You could see me chasing anywhere in or around south central and central Kentucky. Lightning is my favorite part of a storm, I like to photograph it. I use software while out spotting/chasing that allows me to access various weather radars and study storm structures, detect rotation, hail, temperature, wind speed, etc. Plus, I use a mobile anemometer mounted on my vehicle to monitor wind speed.
Other hobbies include satellite tracking, astronomy, meteor observation, astro and astrovideo photography, lunar occultations, camping, fishing, hunting, rapelling, hockey, and all kinds of animals (but cats, and wildbirds are my fav). I also enjoy prowling around in the woods watching wildlife. I make my own Ghillie Suits, which I use to stalk and observe various kinds of animals or hunt.
